How to Unclog Your Bathroom Sink

It happens to all of us, at least once. You turn on your water and it’s just not going down the drain. There are a lot of methods to fixing this madness, but here are my two favorite ways:

1. Check For Hair

Whether you live with men or women, hair will congregate and get stuck around the sink plug (the silver circle at the bottom of the sink) and this, more often than not, will clog your sink. This happened a lot in my family where we had five girls using the same sink. The easiest way to fix this is to remove the plug and clean off the attached hair. Each sink is different, so research how to pull the sink plug out of your specific model to avoid damage.

If that doesn’t fix the problem, try the next solution.

2. Baking Soda and Vinegar

This is a common method of unclogging any sink. It appears, though, that this method words best for dispersing soap and food clogging, though it could work for hair as well.

To use this method, put equal parts baking soda and vinegar down the drain (baking soda first). The natural reaction will help remove whatever it is that’s clogging your sink.

3. Still Clogged?

If neither of these are working for you, then it’s time to break out the big guns. Check your local grocery store and find chemical unclogging fluids. Use as instructed.
